About this opportunity

The FY24 COPS Anti-Heroin Task Force Program is a grant opportunity offered by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office). The grant aims to advance public safety by providing competitive grants to state law enforcement agencies in states with high per capita rates of primary treatment admissions. The grants will fund efforts to locate or investigate illicit activities related to the distribution of heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, or the unlawful distribution of prescription opioids. The COPS Office is seeking applicants that can demonstrate statewide collaboration in addressing these issues. Key evaluation criteria include the applicant's ability to advance civil rights, increase access to justice, support crime victims, strengthen community safety, and build trust between law enforcement and the community. The grant opportunity was posted on April 23, 2024, with a due date of June 20, 2024.

The FY24 COPS Anti-Heroin Task Force Program does not specify award values or budget ranges. However, the COPS Office has previously awarded over $20 billion in grants to more than 13,000 state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies to fund the hiring and redeployment of more than 136,000 officers. The grants will be awarded to eligible state law enforcement agencies to support their efforts in addressing the opioid crisis within their respective states.
