About this opportunity

The National Park Service is soliciting applications for the FY2025 Save America's Treasures Historic Preservation Fund Preservation Grants program, with applications due June 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET; all projects require a mandatory 50 percent non-federal cost match (cash or in-kind), and individual awards range from $125,000 to $750,000.

Eligible applicants include state and local governments, federally recognized tribal governments and organizations, public and private institutions of higher education, and nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status; however, grants are not available for work on sites owned or leased by the National Park Service. Projects must involve nationally significant historic resources individually designated as National Historic Landmarks or individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places for national significance. Approximately 55 awards are anticipated from the $25.5 million total funding pool.

Projects run from January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2029. Merit review applies four equally weighted criteria (25 points each): national significance, severity of threat to the resource, mitigation of threat, and feasibility. Eligible costs include rehabilitation meeting Secretary of Interior Standards, accessibility and safety improvements, easement establishment costs, and administrative expenses capped at 25 percent of total project budget. Recipients must execute preservation easements with terms ranging from five to 25 years depending on federal award amount.

The program is administered by the National Park Service in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Assistance Listing number is 15.929. Applicants must register in SAM.gov and Grants.gov before submitting applications, which require completion of standard federal forms plus project narratives, budget justification, financial statements, project images, and supporting documentation. Questions may be directed to STLPG@nps.gov or 202-354-2020.
