About this opportunity

The Environmental Protection Agency Regions 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are seeking eligible entities to implement pollution prevention projects through Source Reduction Assistance cooperative agreements totaling $1,500,000. Eligible applicants include state, local, and tribal governments, non-profit organizations, and institutions of higher education who will research, train, educate, and provide technical assistance in priority areas such as greenhouse gas reduction, hazardous materials source reduction, resource conservation, and environmental justice. Applications will be evaluated based on the proposed project's alignment with the priority areas and ability to promote practical source reduction approaches and measure environmental and public health outcomes. Applications are due April 15, 2024.

Subject to available funding and submission evaluation, EPA expects to award 7 to 27 cooperative agreements ranging from $40,000 to $240,000 each by September 30, 2024 to support work conducted through January 2026. Funded projects must promote source reduction approaches and measure progress in reducing hazardous substance use as well as increasing energy and water efficiency. Performance sites will be determined based on the location of the proposed pollution prevention activities.
