About this opportunity
This cooperative agreement from the United States Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service will support the design and delivery of training programs for university professors in veterinary science and medicine from Southeast Asian countries. Up to two awards of $500,000 each will fund hosting cohorts of 10 fellows for a 4-5 month U.S.-based training period aligned with a university fall semester. Applicants must be U.S. state cooperative institutions or other colleges and universities and arrange pre- and post-program visits to USDA headquarters in Washington D.C. along with follow-up visits by assigned U.S. mentors to the fellows' home institutions within 3-9 months after completion of the U.S. program. Applications are due by March 15, 2024 with anticipated award notification on June 10, 2024 and project periods of September 15, 2024 through September 14, 2026.
Up to $1 million total is available through this notice of funding opportunity to support two cooperative agreement awards. Successful applicants will host the training programs and associated activities at their institutions in the United States.
Synopsis
This program will support the design and delivery of training activities that include a mixed cohort of university professors in the veterinary science and medicine field from one or more of the following countries (the priority countries for this NOFO): the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Training programs are designed and organized in conjunction with U.S. universities, USDA/FAS, and other government agencies. The FEP emphasizes the development of improved and updated courses and curricula, teaching and student assessment methods, exposure to current research techniques, and practical field experiences while the Fellows study in the United States. In addition, the FEP includes follow-up visits by U.S. host professors (the Mentors) to their Fellow's home country.
