About this opportunity
The National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program is offering Preservation Planning Grants to support projects that contribute to the preservation and interpretation of historic battlefields and associated sites of armed conflict on American soil. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, governments, educational institutions, and tribal organizations to receive between $20,000 and $200,000 for projects such as research, planning, documentation, education, and partnerships. Applicants must submit all required application forms through Grants.gov by March 14, 2024 and funding will be awarded through a competitive merit-based review with an anticipated announcement date of June 28, 2024.
Projects are expected to advance preservation goals at eligible sites through activities related to themes of military, government, intellectual history, economics of war, society, or transportation during periods of armed conflict. The total available funding is $1,198,000 with individual awards ranging from $20,000 to $200,000 to support work performed at historic battlefields and associated sites located on American soil.
Synopsis
Administered by the National Park Service through the American Battlefield Protection Program (NPS ABPP), Preservation Planning Grants support a variety of projects that contribute to the preservation and interpretation of historic battlefields and associated sites of armed conflict on American soil by providing financial assistance to eligible applicants based on the outcome of a competitive merit review process. These grants are funded by direct appropriation from the U.S. Congress and are authorized under 54 U.S.C. § 308102.Due to the large number of activities that the Preservation Planning Grants may fund, applicants are encouraged to reach out to NPS ABPP directly with any questions about potential project eligibility at abpp_ppg@nps.gov or by phone at (202) 513-7126.
