About this opportunity

The Federal Aviation Administration is soliciting applications for up to $100 million in FY 2027 Airport Infrastructure Grant funds for airport-owned air traffic control tower projects under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, with an application due date of October 19, 2026. Eligible applicants are airport sponsors approved in the FAA's Contract Tower Program or Contract Tower Cost Share Program and normally eligible for Airport Improvement Program competitive grants, including public agencies, private entities, state agencies, Indian tribes or pueblos owning public-use National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) airports, the Secretary of the Interior for Midway Island, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.

The program funds projects that sustain, construct, repair, improve, rehabilitate, modernize, replace, or relocate non-approach control towers; acquire and install air traffic control, communications, and related equipment; or construct FAA-certified remote towers including associated equipment. Work is performed at eligible airport locations nationwide.

Grant awards are lump-sum and released upon reimbursement application. Periods of performance extend a maximum of four years from grant award execution, though most projects complete within two to three years. Preapplication coordination is required. Environmental impact assessment or statement is required, and the program is subject to intergovernmental review under Executive Order 12372. Grant recipients must maintain current airport layout plans ordinarily for 20 years and retain accounting records for three years after final expenditure report submission. Periodic reporting on project bidding, contracting, work commencement, and completion is required. The Assistance Listing number is 20.117.
