About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration is offering the Fiscal Year 2024 Behavioral Health Service Expansion (BHSE) grant to increase equitable access to high quality integrated mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services. Eligible applicants are current Health Center Program operational grant recipients. The grant seeks to increase the number of patients receiving these services, including treatment for opioid use disorder. Applications are due in Grants.gov by May 24, 2024 and in EHBs by June 21, 2024. The evaluation will focus on the applicant's ability to expand behavioral health services.
The estimated total available funding is $240 million, with approximately 400 new grants of up to $600,000 in year 1 and up to $500,000 in year 2. Continued funding beyond year 2 will depend on congressional appropriations, performance, and a determination that continued funding is in the government's best interest. The period of performance is September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026.
