About this opportunity
The Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration is offering competitive grants through the Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects (NSFLTP) Program. Up to $47.74 million in FY 2024, up to $55 million in FY 2025, and up to $55 million in FY 2026 are available to construct, reconstruct, or rehabilitate nationally significant transportation facilities on Federal or Tribal lands. Eligible applicants include Federal Land Management Agencies, Tribal governments, and States/local governments sponsored by an eligible agency. Projects must have an estimated total cost of at least $12.5 million. Key evaluation criteria include advancing DOT goals, improving critical facility conditions, leveraging non-NSFLTP funds, using innovative technologies, and supporting facility maintenance and operations. The application deadline is October 16, 2024.
The Federal share is up to 90% for non-Tribal projects and 100% for Tribal projects. Recent Federal Grant Awards under the Highway Planning and Construction program, which funds this NSFLTP opportunity, have ranged from approximately $10,000 to over $14 million, with many in the $100,000 to $5 million range. Projects can be located anywhere in the United States on Federal or Tribal lands.
Synopsis
The FAST Act established the NSFLTP Program. Under Section § 1123(a) of the FAST Act, the purpose of the NSFLTP Program is to provide funding to construct, reconstruct, or rehabilitate nationally significant Federal Lands and Tribal transportation projects.
Grants under the NSFLTP Program are to be awarded on a competitive basis to projects of national significance for construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation of transportation facilities within, adjacent to, or providing access to Federal or Tribal Lands.
