The Food and Agriculture Service Learning Program (FASLP) is seeking applications through December 7, 2023 to provide food, garden, and nutrition education services within host organizations and school cafeterias/classrooms. The National Institute of Food and Agriculture intends to award approximately $1.92 million annually for fiscal years 2024-2025. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, research organizations, and non-profits. Applications will be evaluated based on merit, relevance to increasing agricultural knowledge and nutritional health of children, expertise, viability, and strength of evaluation plans.
The FASLP anticipates funding FASLP Project grants of up to $240,000 over two years and one FASLP Technical Assistance grant of up to $240,000 over three years. Project sites will be within elementary and secondary schools to increase capacity for farm-to-school initiatives and experiential food/agriculture learning, complementing existing nutrition programs through strengthened community engagement between education and agriculture stakeholders.
