About this opportunity
The Health Resources and Services Administration is soliciting applications for Fiscal Year 2027 Expanding Nutrition Services (HRSA-27-099) funding, with applications due September 9, 2026. This opportunity is restricted to Health Center Program award recipients with active H80 awards under Section 330(e) of the Public Health Service Act. Applicants must propose to increase the number of nutrition services patients or visits and add or expand nutrition services either directly or by contract within 120 days of award.
Total available funding is $125 million distributed across approximately 357 awards of $350,000 per year. Awards cover two 12-month budget periods from December 1, 2026, through November 30, 2028. One-time costs in year one are capped at $150,000 for moveable equipment and minor alteration/renovation projects under $1 million.
Merit review evaluates applications on six criteria: Need (20 points), Response (20 points), Collaboration (15 points), Impact (20 points), Capacity (20 points), and Support Requested (5 points). Award decisions will also consider risk assessment, geographic distribution with special consideration for rural-to-urban ratios, compliance status, and alignment with HRSA Mission and Strategic Priorities, including the Make America Healthy Again initiative.
The application requires a 50-page Project Narrative addressing need, response, collaboration, impact, and capacity; a budget narrative with staff justification; SF-424 and SF-424A forms; H80 grant number documentation; and supplemental forms addressing equipment or minor alteration/renovation justifications as applicable. Recipients must maintain H80 award status, comply with 2 CFR Part 200, develop cybersecurity plans, track nutrition services data for the Uniform Data System, and submit progress reports as part of H80 Non-Competing Continuation requests for year two funding release.
The CFDA number is 93.224.
