About this opportunity
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is seeking individual scholars to apply for its Fellowships program, which supports exceptional humanities research and the production of scholarly works. The program provides grants to fund research, writing, and publication of books, monographs, peer-reviewed articles, e-books, digital materials, translations, and critical editions. Eligible applicants include U.S. citizens and foreign nationals who have lived in the U.S. for at least three years. The application deadline is April 9, 2025, and awards will be announced in December 2025. Proposals will be evaluated based on intellectual significance, quality of conception, feasibility of work plan, qualifications of the applicant, and likelihood of completion.
The Fellowships program will award approximately 80 grants ranging from $30,000 to $60,000 ($5,000 per month) to support projects lasting 6-12 months, with a total anticipated funding of $4,000,000. Projects must start between January 1, 2026, and September 1, 2027, and can be conducted at locations determined by the researcher.
