About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) is seeking competitive grant applications for the Family, Opportunity, Resilience, Grit, Engagement - Fatherhood (FORGE Fatherhood) program. The grant aims to support activities promoting responsible fatherhood through three primary categories: sustaining marriage, responsible parenting, and economic stability for adult fathers aged 18-45 with children 24 or younger. Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits, government entities, and tribal organizations. Successful projects must provide curriculum-based workshops, case management, and economic stability services, demonstrating partnerships with employment and community organizations. The comprehensive review will evaluate applications based on project scope, population impact, and alignment with program objectives, with the application deadline set for July 29, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
The grant will award between $400,000 and $1,250,000 per project, with a total program funding of $55,000,000 and approximately 66 expected awards. The project period will span five years, running from September 30, 2025, to September 29, 2030, and includes a planning period and potential pilot phase. While the specific performance locations are not explicitly defined, the program indicates a broad geographical approach, potentially covering community fathers, incarcerated fathers, and those returning to their families and communities. Applicants should be prepared to implement comprehensive support services that address marriage, parenting, and economic stability across diverse populations and project scopes.
Synopsis
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) announces its plan to solicit applications for the competitive award of grants that support "activities to promote responsible fatherhood" under each of the three broad categories of promoting or sustaining marriage, responsible parenting, and economic stability activities authorized under Section 403(a)(2) of the Social Security Act. This funding will be targeted exclusively to projects designed for adult fathers, defined as fathers that are age 18 and older. Eligible fathers (or father figures) must have children who are age 24 or younger. Fathers will include those in the general population (or "community fathers"), as well as fathers who are returning, or have returned, to their families and communities, following incarceration. ACF is interested in funding a diverse range of projects, including varying project scopes and populations to be served.
