About this opportunity
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a component of the U.S. Department of Transportation, is seeking grant applications for the FY 2025 Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grant Program. The program aims to expand the aviation maintenance technical workforce by funding projects that create educational programs, establish apprenticeships and internships, support career transitions, and conduct industry outreach, with a particular focus on engaging students from high schools, secondary schools, and higher education institutions. Eligible applicants include certified repair stations, labor organizations, accredited educational institutions, aviation-related nonprofits, and state/local/tribal government entities. Proposals will be evaluated across four key areas: project plan (30 points), applicant resources/capabilities (20 points), project impact (30 points), and project administration/monitoring (20 points), with a minimum score of 61 points required for funding consideration. The application deadline is February 5, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET, with submissions to be made through Grants.gov.
The grant program will distribute approximately $9 million across an estimated 9 recipients, with individual awards capped at $1 million for a two-year performance period. Twenty percent of the total funding will be specifically allocated to the Willa Brown Aviation Education Program, targeting qualified opportunity zones. Award notifications are expected in Q4 FY2025 (July-September), and all applicants must be registered in SAM.gov with an active Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number. Successful projects will be expected to provide meaningful educational experiences that stimulate interest in aviation maintenance careers and facilitate workforce transitions, with a particular emphasis on advancing equity and creating opportunities in historically underserved communities.
