About this opportunity

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is soliciting proposals through January 31, 2024 for environmental monitoring services related to the Wake Atoll Rat Eradication Project on Wake Atoll. Proposals are sought to assess the persistence of brodifacoum residues in water, soil, wildlife and invertebrates before, during and after aerial broadcast of rodenticide bait as required by the project's Environmental Assessment. Eligible applicants include unrestricted entities. Proposals will be evaluated based on how well they address monitoring priorities, feasibility of success, and cost effectiveness. If selected for funding, recipients must provide laboratory test results within 45 days of each monitoring phase and a final report within one year of the April-June 2024 award start date.

Up to $200,000 is available under this cooperative agreement to be awarded through the Wildlife Services program (CFDA #10.028) within USDA APHIS. The performance period concludes 12 months after award. Recipients will collect samples and conduct testing on Wake Atoll to determine brodifacoum decay timelines in selected environmental compartments as projected in the Environmental Assessment.
