About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) has announced an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for programs that provide LGBTQI+ individuals and communities with the tools to prevent, mitigate, and recover from violence and restrictions on human rights and fundamental freedoms, eliminate laws which criminalize LGBTQI+ status and/or conduct, and in other ways advance protection of human rights in alignment with the strategic framework of the Global Equality Fund. Applications are due by March 14, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST and will be evaluated based on seven criteria: quality of project idea, project planning/ability to achieve objectives, institutional record and capacity, inclusive programming, cost effectiveness, multiplier effect/sustainability, and project monitoring and evaluation.

DRL plans to make 3-6 awards ranging from $750,000 to $1,250,000 each, with a total funding of $2,100,000 available. The award periods will be 24-60 months, and the program is funded under CFDA 19.345 (International Programs to Support Democracy, Human Rights and Labor) through the Global Equality Fund, a public-private partnership including multiple government and corporate donors.
