About this opportunity
The Indian Health Service is forecasting a Domestic Violence Prevention grant program for federally recognized Indian Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Urban Indian Organizations serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities, under CFDA 93.653. This is a forecast; no current application deadline is posted.
Eligible applicants are limited to federally recognized Indian Tribes as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(14), Tribal organizations as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(26), and Urban Indian Organizations as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(29). The program funds development and expansion of culturally appropriate, trauma-informed prevention and victim services addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and human trafficking, Missing and Murdered AI/AN people, and child maltreatment. Funded programs must provide victim advocacy services, implement evidence-based and traditional or faith-based practices, increase awareness of violence's health impacts, collect and share prevalence and risk factor data, and develop sustainability plans beyond grant funding.
Cross-sector collaboration with law enforcement, emergency departments, social services, legal services, education, health care providers, behavioral health, shelters, and advocacy organizations is a core program requirement. The project period is limited to five years or less, with annual noncompetitive continuation applications required for each year of support. Applications are screened for completeness and responsiveness to the Notice of Funding Opportunity, then sent to an objective review committee for evaluation. Award decisions are notified via email through GrantSolutions. Grant records must be retained for three years after the final expenditure report is submitted.
