About this opportunity

The Indian Health Service is forecasting a grant opportunity to expand access to culturally appropriate, trauma-informed forensic healthcare services for American Indian and Alaska Native victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child maltreatment, and human trafficking; no application due date is posted. Eligible applicants are federally recognized Indian Tribes as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(14), Tribal organizations as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(26), and Urban Indian organizations as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(29).

The grant supports development and expansion of forensic healthcare services across IHS Areas through multidisciplinary, community-based partnerships such as Multidisciplinary Teams and Sexual Assault Response Teams. Awardees coordinate treatment, intervention, and prevention efforts among law enforcement, child protective services, social services, legal services, behavioral health, and victim advocacy providers to strengthen victim response and enhance access to timely, comprehensive care.

The project period is limited to five years or less. Within the project period, a continuation application must be submitted annually on a noncompetitive basis for each year of support. Renewal applications are typically due 60 days prior to the end of the current budget period and remain available for at least 60 days.

Applications are screened for completeness and responsiveness to the Notice of Funding Opportunity. All completed and responsive applications are sent to an objective review committee for review; the sponsoring office uses review results to select applications for award. Applications selected for award are processed in GrantSolutions and notified by email.

This opportunity is assigned to CFDA 93.653, Indian Health Service Domestic Violence Prevention Programs. The most recent award under this program was $103 thousand obligated to Cook Inlet Tribal Council in fiscal 2025 for the Anchorage Domestic Violence Prevention Program.
