About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit public feedback on the draft Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Interconnection Roadmap. This roadmap covers interconnection solutions for DERs that connect to distribution and sub-transmission systems. The RFI seeks input on the roadmap's purpose, goals, proposed solutions, potential barriers, measurable success targets, diversity and equity considerations, and opportunities for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Responses are due by October 7, 2024. This RFI is not a funding opportunity and will not result in any awards; however, EERE may issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement in the future based on the input received.

The DOE's Renewable Energy Research and Development program, which has a CFDA number of 81.087, typically provides funding in the range of $250,000 to $10 million for projects lasting 1-5 years. Recent Federal Grant Awards have supported a variety of renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, geothermal, and bioenergy. The work is typically performed at recipient facilities or field sites within the United States.

Synopsis

This request for information (RFI) solicits public feedback on the draft Distributed Energy Resource Interconnection Roadmap prepared by the U.S. Department of Energy's Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange (i2X) program. This roadmap covers interconnection solutions for distributed energy resources (DERs) that interconnect with the distribution and sub-transmission systems only.
