About this opportunity

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is offering the Digital Humanities Advancement Grants (DHAG) program, which supports innovative, experimental, and computationally challenging digital projects that can enhance scholarly research, teaching, and public programming in the humanities. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, accredited higher education institutions, state and local governments, and federally recognized Native American Tribal governments. The program prioritizes projects that develop new digital humanities infrastructure, tools, or methods, with a preference for open-source solutions and projects that extend beyond the applicant institution. Applications will be evaluated on the strength of the project's innovation, potential impact, and sustainability. Key deadlines are January 10, 2025 and May 22, 2025.

The DHAG program offers three funding levels: Level I up to $75,000, Level II between $75,001 to $150,000, and Level III between $150,001 to $350,000, with Level III applicants potentially requesting an additional $100,000 in federal matching funds. NEH anticipates awarding approximately $2,200,000 among 10-15 recipients per deadline, with project periods ranging from 24 to 36 months depending on the funding level. Projects must start between September 1-November 1, 2025 for the January deadline or January 1-March 1, 2026 for the May deadline.
