About this opportunity
This federal grant opportunity from the Department of State Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation seeks project proposals to counter weapons of mass destruction threats in Iraq under the Global Threat Reduction program. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, think tanks, educational institutions, federally funded research centers, and for-profit organizations to implement projects securing chemical and biological materials, dual use equipment, technologies, expertise, and infrastructure in Iraq or helping Iraqi partners prevent, detect, and respond to related incidents. Applicants must submit proposals by January 31, 2024 describing activities to bolster incident response capabilities, strengthen public-private partnerships on mitigation and response, and enhance regional collaboration and preparedness, with evaluation based on quality, experience, cost realism, goals, and diversity plans.
Total available funding for awards over two fiscal years is $2.5 million, with a period of performance of 12 months for selected projects. Work will involve implementing approved projects in Iraq or with Iraqi partners to counter weapons of mass destruction threats and support nonproliferation efforts through securing materials and dismantling related programs.
