About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is forecasting a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a Cooperative Agreement to continue the Collaborative Islet Transplantation Registry (CITR), which collects and analyzes data from clinical trials on isolated human islet transplantation as a treatment for diabetes. No application deadline is currently set; this is a forecast notice to enable potential applicants to develop collaborations.

Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public and private), 501(c)(3) nonprofits, state and local governments, tribal governments (federally and non-federally recognized), independent school districts, small businesses, for-profit organizations, public or Indian housing authorities, special district governments, Indian/Native American tribal governments, eligible federal agencies, U.S. territories or possessions, faith-based or community-based organizations, regional organizations, and non-domestic entities.

CITR will collect and curate clinical trial data on islet transplantation outcomes and publish periodic reports on trends. The registry will prepare analyses for the research community to support publications and presentations and inform design of future clinical trials. The program will also conduct periodic meetings of contributing transplant sites. The funding activity code is U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed Cooperative Agreement, reflecting that applicants will conduct data collection and analyses from existing trials rather than initiate new clinical trials. Applicants with expertise in clinical trial data collection and collaborative investigators combining data analysis expertise are encouraged to apply. Funding falls under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847).
