About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, seeks a cooperative agreement with an eligible nonprofit or government entity to provide conservation internship positions and support natural resource management and water safety programs at the Raystown Lake Project. The opportunity anticipates seven conservation intern positions: two focused on natural resource management (wildlife management, threatened and endangered species monitoring, fisheries management, habitat enhancement, and forest management) and five dedicated to water safety and interpretation (safety promotion, life jacket station maintenance, special events coordination, interpretive programming, and public outreach). Applicants must demonstrate strong organizational commitment to youth and conservation education, provide proof of nonprofit status, document past performance in resource management and visitor services, and comply with grants.gov registration requirements prior to submission. The evaluation criteria will focus on the organization's ability to deliver training and educational opportunities aligned with the program objectives, though specific review criteria will be detailed in the formal announcement on grants.gov. The application deadline is March 2, 2026.
While specific award values are not provided in this opportunity announcement, the Youth Conservation Services program (CFDA 12.010) historically awards cooperative agreements ranging from $20,000 to $250,000 with project durations typically spanning 6 to 18 months. The position encompasses seven internship placements requiring a commitment to provide structured conservation and educational experiences throughout the performance period. The Raystown Lake Project in Pennsylvania serves as the geographic location of performance, where interns will execute on-site conservation activities, habitat restoration work, and direct public engagement initiatives.
