About this opportunity

The National Science Foundation's (NSF) Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) is continuing its support for the CISE-MSI program, which aims to broaden participation in CISE-funded research by increasing the number of projects from Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and developing their research capacity. The goal is to foster innovation, cultivate computer and information science talent, and bolster U.S. competitiveness. Eligible applicants include Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Tribal College & Universities (TCUs). The evaluation criteria will focus on the proposed research's potential to advance scientific knowledge and technological innovation across a wide range of computational domains.

The typical Federal Grant Awards under this program range from approximately $100,000 to $600,000, with project periods spanning 2-5 years. The work is primarily performed at academic research institutions across the United States, with frequent award recipients including research universities such as the University of Michigan, Northeastern University, University of Texas, and George Mason University.

Synopsis

With this solicitation, the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) is continuing its support of research expansion for Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). The goal of the CISE-MSI program is to broaden participation by increasing the number of CISE-funded research projects from MSIs and to develop research capacity toward successful submissions to core CISE programs. MSIs are central to inclusive excellence: they foster innovation, cultivate current and future undergraduate and graduate computer and information science and engineering talent, and bolster long-term U.S. competitiveness. For the purposes of this solicitation, MSIs include Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Tribal College & Universities (TCUs).
