About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation is seeking applicants for the Central Valley Project Fish Information Needs program. The objective is to collect priority information on Chinook salmon, Oncorhynchus mykiss, Green and White sturgeon, and Delta smelt to reduce uncertainties in decision support models and strengthen predictive capabilities for fish restoration strategies in the Central Valley. Eligible applicants include the State of California, Indian tribes, and non-profit entities. Applications will be evaluated based on criteria such as methods and objectives, team qualifications, collaboration, permitting approach, data management, and project feasibility. The first application deadline is December 23, 2024 for fiscal year 2025 funding.

Up to $5 million in federal funds is available per fiscal year (2025 and 2026), with an estimated 1-10 awards expected per year. The program is authorized under the Central Valley Project Improvement Act and funding will be provided through grants or cooperative agreements. Projects must address priority information needs for the target fish species and locations outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity.
