About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living is soliciting applications for Burn Injury Model System Centers grants; this is a forecast with no stated deadline. Applicants must be states, public or private agencies (including for-profit), public or private organizations (including for-profit), institutions of higher education, or Indian tribes and tribal organizations. A critical eligibility requirement mandates that an applicant institution provide a multidisciplinary continuum of care for people with burn injury, including emergency medical services, acute care services, acute medical rehabilitation services, and post-acute services. Foreign entities are not eligible.
Burn Model Systems Centers will be funded at varying amounts up to a maximum award amount, based on the number of database participants eligible for follow-up in the Burn Model Systems longitudinal database. The project period is 60 months, structured as five 12-month budget periods. Grantees must demonstrate substantial progress to receive continuation funding beyond the first 12-month budget period.
Centers must generate new knowledge to improve outcomes for individuals with burn injury in one or more of NIDILRR's Long Range Plan domains: health and function, community living and participation, and employment. Funded centers must conduct site-specific research, collaborative research, and contribute data to the Burn Model Systems longitudinal database.
The award falls under CFDA 93.433 (ACL National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research). Annual progress reports are required for continuation funding; awards may be renewed annually for up to five years subject to appropriations availability and evidence of substantial progress toward objectives.
