About this opportunity
The Bureau of Justice Statistics is soliciting applications for the FY 2026 Statistical Support Program cooperative agreement, with SF-424 due October 1, 2026, and full application due October 22, 2026; only RTI International is eligible to apply.
BJS seeks statistical and methodological support for existing and new data collections spanning policing, prosecution, courts, institutional corrections, community supervision, and victimization. The program will expand BJS capacity to collect, analyze, and report criminal justice data on emerging and existing substantive issues. Expected work includes two to four tasks per year, with specific focus on completing the State Sentencing Commissions Data Pilot Study and Judicial Response Model Exploratory Study, developing new data collections through user experience research and field period investigations, and identifying and retaining external affiliates with substantive, statistical, technical, and methodological expertise.
The award ceiling is $1,500,000 for one anticipated award with a 24-month performance period beginning October 1, 2026. No cost share is required.
Deliverables include findings and recommendations reports with briefings for each task, final reports summarizing completed work and implications, data and documentation if data collection is involved, and responses to new task requests including staffing plans, budgets, and recommended approaches. Award recipients may be required to pass OJP background checks and complete work on OJP-hosted systems. Full application submission requires proposal narrative (not exceeding 20 pages, double-spaced), budget detail worksheet, financial management questionnaire, standard applicant information, and supporting certifications including human subjects protection and privacy certifications. Anticipated award notification is by December 1, 2026.
The opportunity falls under CFDA 16.734, Special Data Collections and Statistical Studies.
