About this opportunity
The Bureau of Justice Assistance is soliciting applications for the Adult Treatment Court Planning, Training, Technical Assistance, and Resources Center Initiative under a cooperative agreement, with applications due July 15, 2026. This is an invited-to-apply opportunity; match is not required.
Eligible applicants are classified as "Other" applicant types per the source. The funding provides intensive, customized technical assistance to newly funded and existing adult treatment court grantees and mentor courts. Supported activities help ATC grantees integrate substance use disorder treatment, mandatory drug testing, incentives and sanctions, and transitional services within judicially supervised criminal court settings with jurisdiction over individuals with substance use disorders. Program objectives include reducing recidivism and overdose fatalities while increasing access to treatment and recovery support that leads to long-term recovery and improved public safety.
The program operates under CFDA 16.585, the Treatment Court Discretionary Grant Program. Recent awards under this program have ranged from approximately $400,000 to $2.5 million, with project periods typically extending four to five years, though this specific solicitation notes project duration up to four years for planning, implementation, enhancement, and statewide grants. Performance locations are situated within state, local, and tribal court systems and associated community-based service delivery locations across the United States, reflecting both rural and urban jurisdictions with particular emphasis on tribal and underserved communities.
Award decisions are made by the Assistant Attorney General. Applications undergo eligibility, responsiveness, merit, programmatic, budget, and risk reviews as specified in the notice of funding opportunity.
