About this opportunity

The Bureau of Justice Assistance is soliciting applications to support law enforcement intellectual property enforcement task forces by September 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, with total funding of $2.15 million allocated across six anticipated awards of up to $375,000 each for a 24-month period beginning October 1, 2026.

Eligible applicants include state, county, city or township, and special district governments; federally recognized and non-federally recognized tribal organizations; units of local government; and law enforcement agencies and prosecutors' offices. A mandatory partnership requirement mandates engagement with federal agencies including the FBI, ICE HSI, USPIS, and USAO; applications from jurisdictions coordinated with federal law enforcement through 287(g) partnerships or Homeland Security Task Forces, supported by letters from the U.S. Attorney's Office, receive priority consideration.

The program supports existing or new task forces investigating and prosecuting intellectual property crimes involving copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and counterfeit goods distribution at state, local, tribal, and territorial levels, with explicit focus on reducing violent crime associated with IP cases. The application requires a two-step submission: SF-424 form submission in Grants.gov by September 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, followed by complete application submission in JustGrants by September 30, 2026 at 8:59 PM ET. The complete application must include a Memorandum of Understanding with project partners, a proposal narrative not exceeding 10 pages addressing need, goals and objectives, project design and implementation, capabilities and competencies, and sustainability plans, plus a detailed budget. Unallowable costs include vehicles, foreign travel, and construction; confiscated evidence storage rental is allowable. Prohibited activities include programs violating federal immigration law, federal civil rights or nondiscrimination law, or providing legal services to removable or unlawfully present aliens.

The opportunity is assigned to CFDA 16.752, Economic, High-Tech, and Cyber Crime Prevention.
