About this opportunity
The Department of Energy's Grid Deployment Office and Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations are seeking applications for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Grid Resilience and Innovative Partnerships (GRIP) program. This $3.9 billion grant program aims to fund projects that modernize the electric grid, enhance resilience, promote decarbonization, and provide benefits to disadvantaged communities. Eligible applicants include electric utilities, generators, technology firms, states, tribes, and local governments. Projects must align with three focus areas: Grid Resilience Grants, Smart Grid Grants, and the Grid Innovation Program. Applicants must submit concept papers by January 12, 2024 and full applications by April 17 to May 22, 2024, depending on the topic area.
Awards are expected to range from $5-20 million per project and will be made through the Grid Infrastructure Deployment and Resilience federal grant program (CFDA 81.254). Funded projects must support workforce development, energy justice, and the Justice40 Initiative while transforming the electric grid to improve reliability, flexibility, and resilience against disruptive events.
