About this opportunity

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is seeking applicants for Behavioral Health and Community Safety Partnerships grants, with applications due July 13, 2026. This program supports communities in reducing behavioral health impacts of crime, violence, and disorder while strengthening community safety and improving outcomes for youth, families, and individuals affected by these conditions.

Eligible applicants include domestic private and public non-profit organizations (including faith-based organizations), states (including the District of Columbia and U.S. Territories), political subdivisions of states, consortia of political subdivisions, public or private institutions of higher education, Indian tribes and tribal organizations, federally recognized Tribal governments, health facilities and hospitals, programs operated under contract or award with the Indian Health Service, and state, local, or tribal education agencies.

Awards are made under CFDA 93.532 (Center for Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance). The program supports knowledge development and application projects, training and technical assistance programs, targeted capacity response initiatives, and systems change grants. Applications undergo merit review including project description evaluation, program analysis, and concurrence by the CMHS National Advisory Council. Award amounts and expected number of awards are determined as part of the Notice of Funding Opportunity. Records retention requirements extend three years beyond the award period, or beyond completion of final audit if audit findings remain unresolved.
