About this opportunity
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is offering the Awards for Faculty grant program to support humanities research at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). The program provides grants to individual faculty and staff members to pursue scholarly research projects that benefit humanities scholars, students, and general audiences. Eligible projects include research leading to books, articles, digital resources, course improvements, and materials supporting cultural preservation. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals residing in the U.S. for at least three years who are current or retired faculty/staff at qualifying institutions. The application deadline is April 9, 2025, with an optional draft narrative due on February 14, 2025. Proposals will be evaluated based on intellectual significance, project quality, feasibility, researcher potential, and likelihood of completion.
The program will award approximately $1.5 million across 22 grants, with individual awards ranging from $10,000 to $60,000 to support 2-12 months of full-time equivalent work. Projects must start between January 1, 2026 and September 1, 2027 and fall under the Promotion of the Humanities Fellowships and Stipends federal grant program (CFDA 45.160).
