About this opportunity
The U.S. Mission to Nigeria is accepting proposals from eligible organizations for project funding through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) program for fiscal year 2025. The AFCP supports the preservation of historic buildings, archaeological sites, manuscripts, museum collections, and traditional cultural expressions in Nigeria. Eligible applicants include non-governmental organizations, museums, educational institutions, and ministries of culture. The application deadline is January 10, 2025, and successful projects will support U.S. foreign policy and public diplomacy goals, as well as host country or community objectives.
The program will award 25-35 grants ranging from $25,000 to $500,000, with project durations of 12 to 60 months. The grants are administered by the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and regional bureaus, and are structured as project grants or cooperative agreements. The AFCP program aims to demonstrate U.S. respect for other cultures, advance diplomatic objectives, and preserve significant cultural heritage at risk of loss or damage in Nigeria.
