About this opportunity

This funding opportunity from the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory seeks applications for cooperative agreements to advance next-generation tools and technologies that enhance energy infrastructure resilience against all hazards. Applicants are encouraged to develop solutions in six areas: operate through compromise strategies, adaptable zero-trust architectures, risk management for natural hazards, wildfire resilience, physical security improvements for substations, and scalable cyber-physical platforms. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, for-profit organizations, non-profits, and state/local governments. Applications are due by March 4, 2024 with selection notifications by May 2024 and anticipated project start dates of September 2024.

Awards will range from $500,000 to $5 million depending on the topic area addressed. Successful applicants are expected to perform projects at their own facilities, with potential collaboration between multiple organizations and locations to be proposed and later approved. This funding opportunity is assigned under the Department of Energy's Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response federal grant program.
