Synopsis

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in Alaska-Region 7 is seeking proposals to collaboratively plan and host Henshaw Creek Culture and Science Camp serving youth from communities near Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge. Camps should meaningfully integrate western scientific principles and traditional knowledge and experience of the area to cultivate conservation and stewardship principles among local children. Funding will be provided for planning and curriculum development, camp instruction, transportation, and supplies. Funding will be prioritized to camps that demonstrate an active partnership with Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge to provide outdoor classroom opportunities for targeted students, promote scientific literacy, and increase conservation of fish, wildlife, and plants and cultural and historical resources on Alaska¿s National Wildlife Refuges.
