About this opportunity
This cooperative agreement from the Department of Health and Human Services seeks to advance equity in adolescent health through evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs and services. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, higher education institutions, governments, and businesses to replicate programs proven effective at reducing risks for teenage pregnancy. Applicants must describe how their proposed project addresses disparities and serves underserved communities. Evaluation will consider the proposal's alignment with goals and comprehensive plans for implementation, monitoring, and reporting. Applications are due by April 18, 2023.
Funding amounts will be determined based on the proposed scope and need. Funded projects must deliver services in locations demonstrating the highest prevalence and severity of adverse social and economic conditions contributing to poor sexual health among youth. Placements are expected in communities and regions with significant disparities in access to care and health outcomes for adolescents and young families.
Synopsis
The primary focus of OASH is leading America to healthier lives, especially for those who have suffered historic disparities. In support of this vision, OPA promotes health across the reproductive lifespan through innovative, evidence-based sexual and reproductive health and family planning programs, services, strategic partnerships, evaluation, and research. The Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program is a national, evidence-based program that funds diverse organizations working to reach adolescents to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes and promote positive youth development. The Office of Population Affairs (OPA) anticipates FY2023 funds being available to support cooperative agreements for organizations to advance health equity for adolescents, their family, and communities through the replication and scaling of medically accurate and age appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs that have been proven effective through rigorous evaluation to reduce teenage pregnancy, behavioral risk factors underlying teenage pregnancy, or other associated risk factors. Evidence-based program are programs that have been proven effective through rigorous evaluation to reduce teenage pregnancy, behavioral risk factors underlying teenage pregnancy, or other associated risk factors. OPA aims to equitably bolster adolescent health outcomes and mitigate disparities through evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs and services. Anticipated funds will be used to serve communities and populations with the greatest needs and facing significant disparities to advance equity in adolescent health through the replication of evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs and services.
