About this opportunity

This Notice of Funding Opportunity announces a competitive grant program through the United States Agency for International Development to support economic growth and trade capacity building in Uzbekistan. Eligible applicants include universities, non-profit organizations, and for-profit firms operating in Uzbekistan, who may request funding between $500,000 to $2 million over two years. Applications are due by January 15, 2024 and funding decisions will be made by March 31, 2024. The agency seeks projects that strengthen trade facilitation and customs modernization, support small and medium enterprise competitiveness, promote regional economic cooperation, or develop workforce skills for target sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and information and communication technologies. Proposals should demonstrate strong partnerships with both public and private sector stakeholders in Uzbekistan and produce measurable outcomes within the two-year period of performance.

The program will award individual grants between $500,000 and $2 million to fund innovative projects expected to be carried out in Uzbekistan. Successful applicants are expected to complete project activities and achieve stated objectives within a two-year period of performance while based in Uzbekistan, with progress reported regularly to the United States Agency for International Development.
