About this forecast

The U.S. Coast Guard is procuring a commercial-off-the-shelf 12-gauge tactical shotgun system under a total small business set-aside IDIQ contract, with solicitation release on July 27, 2026, and award targeted for September 1, 2026. The complete weapon system must feature M4 carbine manual of arms and ergonomics, include spare parts, maintenance kits, and manuals, and replace aging inventory to reduce training burden and increase operator proficiency through weapon commonality.

The estimated award value ranges from $10 million to $20 million under Firm Fixed Price terms, comprising a one-year base period and four option years, with performance scheduled from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2031, at 1790 Ash Street SE, Washington, DC 20032. Contracting office CG-HCA-COCO-32 manages the procurement; requirements contact Dustin Capel (dustin.j.capel@uscg.mil, 571-613-2712) and alternate contact Madelyn Logan (madelyn.n.logan@uscg.mil, 571-608-5316) are available for inquiries.

Forecast text

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requires the replacement of its aging and outdated fleet of shotguns. The current systems do not meet the requirements for modern tactical operations and create a significant training burden due to their dissimilarity to the M4 carbine, the primary shoulder-fired weapon used by USCG personnel.

The goal of this acquisition is to procure a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) 12-gauge shotgun system that replicates the manual of arms and ergonomics of the M4 platform. This will reduce training time, increase operator proficiency, and improve performance during operational use. This contract will establish a single source for a complete weapon system, including all necessary spare parts, maintenance kits, and manuals, ensuring lifecycle sustainment and compatibility with systems already in service with USCG tactical units.

This Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract will be for a base period of one year with 4 option year periods. Procurement strategy is 100% total small business set-aside.
