About this forecast
The Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health is seeking a Coordinating Center contractor for the nuMoM2b Heart Health Study, an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to continue a longitudinal research study tracking women from their first pregnancies. The study aims to investigate the relationship between adverse pregnancy outcomes and cardiovascular disease, with a focus on following the cohort through perimenopause and menopause, and will require comprehensive data and biospecimen management. The estimated award date is January 1, 2027, with the solicitation likely to be released in late 2025.
The contract will involve managing an existing cohort originally enrolled between 2010-2013, with subcontracts required to support storage, maintenance, and potential collection of biological samples and data. The primary point of contact is Roxane Burkett, a Contract Specialist at the National Institutes of Health, who can be reached at burkettr@nhlbi.nih.gov or +1 301 435 6671. While specific budget details are not provided, the contract will support a multi-center, longitudinal research effort tracking women's cardiovascular health across significant life stages.
Forecast text
nuMoM2b Heart Health Study (nuMoM2b HHS) is a multi-center longitudinal cohort study that enrolled pregnant women during their first pregnancies from 2010-2013. The goals of the study and follow-up has been to characterize adverse pregnancy outcomes and their impact on cardiovascular disease.
The objective of the renewal of the nuMoM2b Heart Health Study (HHS) is to follow this richly phenotyped cohort of women, from their first pregnancy, with data and biospecimens prospectively collected, to better understand the relationship between adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs; specifically stillbirth, small-for-gestational-age birth, preterm birth, hypertensive disease of pregnancy, and gestational diabetes) and cardiovascular disease. Continued follow-up will now permit the study to obtain information as the women enter perimenopause and menopause, an important timepoint in the lifespan to learn about the impact of hormonal changes and pregnancy outcomes on cardiovascular health.
This research and development requirement is to compete for one IDIQ contract and resulting task orders for the nuMoM2b Coordinating Center with subcontracts to accomplish all necessary work, including storage and maintenance of both existing biological samples and data, to include those that may be collected during the next project period.
