About this forecast

The Department of the Interior is procuring research and development services to measure and monitor criteria air pollutant concentrations and their precursors at a designated coastal site in the Gulf of America shoreline region, with solicitation release estimated for March 31, 2027. The work will measure pollutant data currently insufficient in the area, compare findings against National Ambient Air Quality Standards, examine meteorological conditions during low and high concentration events to identify onshore or offshore sources, and establish coastal background concentrations for use in air quality modeling.

The estimated award value ranges from $500,000 to $999,000, with performance conducted in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a new requirement under definitive contract type, awarded on a non-competitive basis. Contact Stacie Merritt at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (stacie.merritt@boem.gov) for additional information.

Forecast text

Data on the concentrations of criteria air pollutants and their precursors is insufficient along Gulf of America’s shoreline. For this study, criteria air pollutant concentrations, and their precursors, will be measured and monitored at a designated coastal site in accordance with federal requirements. The measured criteria air pollutants will be compared against the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). During instances of both low and high concentrations, the study will examine meteorological conditions to identify if the impacts were caused by onshore or offshore sources. Additionally, the study will establish suitable coastal background concentrations for use in air quality modeling.
