About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District has issued a Special Notice regarding their intent to specify Yale brand door locks for the Renovate Sijan Hall - Phase One project at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. This notice is not a solicitation but rather an announcement of the government's decision to use brand name requirements for door locks as part of an upcoming Design-Bid-Build construction contract. The Army Corps of Engineers previously conducted a sources sought process under Notice ID W9128F25SM022 to identify potential alternative products that could meet construction specifications. After reviewing all responses, the agency determined that brand name equipment was justified and has prepared a Justification and Approval (J&A) to support this decision. The notice serves to inform the contracting community of the government's intent to proceed with Yale as the specified brand for door locks.

The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide transparency regarding the government's decision to implement installation standardization of door lock manufacturers, which is intended to reduce overall costs and increase performance efficiencies. The notice indicates that a due date of August 1, 2025 applies, though this appears to relate to the overall project timeline rather than response requirements since no solicitation is currently available. No specific eligibility criteria or contractor requirements are outlined in this notice, as it is purely informational rather than a request for proposals or quotations. The government plans to include the fully executed Justification and Approval with the future solicitation when it becomes available. Contractors interested in this opportunity should monitor for the release of the actual construction solicitation, which will be structured as a firm-fixed-price contract for the renovation work at the Air Force Academy facility.
