About this opportunity
The FAA is preparing to solicit removal action services for petroleum-contaminated soil excavation and disposal at Building 101 in Yakutat, Alaska, with a response deadline of May 18, 2026, and this requirement is set aside for Total Small Business.
The scope involves excavation and disposal of up to 800 tons of petroleum-impacted soil located 4–8 feet below ground surface, extending to the surface and down to 10 feet in some locations near Yakutat Airport. Contractor must manage soil moisture to prevent pooling in disposal vessels given groundwater presence at approximately 5–6 feet below grade. The site includes a 6,500-square-foot laydown pad that requires excavation, removal of semi-mobile trailers with temporary utility hookups, and restoration upon completion. Multiple utilities—telephone, power, and fiber optic—border or cross the excavation area. Work must occur in July/August 2026 during seasonal low water levels.
Interested small businesses must submit a written response limited to five pages, including company name, address, point of contact details, UEI number, and relevant experience on similar projects within the past five years with supporting contract numbers and references. Respondents must maintain active small business registration in SAM.gov to qualify for the subsequent formal solicitation.
Performance occurs in Yakutat, Alaska. NAICS 562910 (Remediation Services); PSC F108 (Environmental Remediation).
