About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically Network Contracting Office 6, is conducting a market research survey for site preparation construction at the Durham VA Medical Center. The project involves professional construction services to prepare the hospital's 2nd floor for the replacement of Sterile Processing Services (SPS) sterilization equipment, including sonic cleaners, cart washers, steam sterilizers, and instrument washers/disinfectants. Interested contractors must submit a detailed response by 3:00 PM EDT on April 15, 2025, to Erica Manglona via email, including company information, SAM registration, socio-economic size, and a capabilities statement. The evaluation will review responses from all businesses, focusing on experience with similar contract scopes and answers to specific project questions. Contractors must also provide their SAM Unique Entry ID, current registration status, and proposed NAICS code.
The procurement is initially designated under NAICS code 236220 (Commercial and Institutional Building Construction) with a $45 million size standard, with potential set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) or Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) if at least two qualified firms respond. The anticipated construction magnitude ranges between $500,000 and $1,000,000, with a 365-day performance period from the Notice to Proceed. The project aims to minimize disruption to the 24/7 SPS department operations while ensuring compliance with federal and local construction codes. If responses from qualified firms prove inadequate, the VA may consider an alternate set-aside or full and open competition. Contractors are expected to provide detailed information about project timelines, material lead times, and confirm the appropriateness of the proposed NAICS and Product Service Code (PSC) classifications.
