About this opportunity
The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking a contractor to perform specialized turbine guide bearing re-babbitting services through solicitation 140R6025Q0041. The work involves removing existing babbitt material, inspecting the bore for potential repairs, re-tinning the entire bonding surface, and applying new babbitt using ASTM B-23 grade 2 or 3 tin-based material via centrifugal casting. The bearing specifications include a desired finish bore of 21.000" with tight tolerances, a length of 15 inches, and an outer diameter of 32.5 inches at the flange. Offerors must be registered in SAM.gov and address all evaluation factors outlined in FAR clause 52.212-2, with the government planning to award a firm fixed-price contract without discussions unless deemed necessary. The question submission deadline was May 27, 2025, with written quotes due by June 23, 2025 at 11:59 PM MDT via email to Contracting Officer Terra Warren at twarren@usbr.gov.
This procurement is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 333613 for Mechanical Power Transmission Equipment Manufacturing, with a size standard of 750 employees. The solicitation has been amended multiple times, with Amendment 0003 extending the submission deadline and clarifying technical specifications, including confirmation that the current babbitt material does not contain lead. The contractor will be responsible for shipping costs to and from the Wyoming Area Office warehouse in Mills, Wyoming, where the bearing will be located for the repair work. No incumbent contractors or specific award values are mentioned in the solicitation materials, and the government anticipates making a single award based on best value determination. The work appears to be for maintenance of existing hydroelectric or water management facility equipment typical of Bureau of Reclamation operations.
