About this opportunity
The Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) is soliciting quotes for worm gear and spider components through a sole source procurement designated for OEM Timken Gears dba Philadelphia Gear. The solicitation includes nine line items comprising various mechanical components such as worm gear subassemblies, worm pinion shafts, spacers, keys, and bearings required for naval operations. The procurement is structured as a firm fixed-price arrangement with specific requirements for contractor registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) and compliance with federal acquisition regulations. Authorized distributors may express interest and capability to respond, though this will primarily be considered to determine whether competitive procurement should be conducted. The offer submission deadline is September 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with delivery required by October 10, 2025.
Despite the government description indicating no set-aside designation, the attached solicitation document identifies this as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) set-aside contract under NAICS code 333612 for Speed Changer, Industrial High-Speed Drive, and Gear Manufacturing. The incumbent contractor position is held by Timken Gears dba Philadelphia Gear, reflecting the sole source nature of this acquisition. The contract specifies delivery to the U.S. Naval Base Sasebo in Japan, where inspection and acceptance will be performed by a government representative at the destination. The solicitation encompasses nine distinct line items of mechanical components, though specific award values are not disclosed in the available documentation. The timeline provides a narrow seven-day response window from posting to submission deadline, indicating the urgent nature of this naval supply requirement.
