About this opportunity
This Special Notice was published by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to announce their intent to issue a sole source contract to the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. The purpose of the contract is to develop a plan and host a workshop to examine potential ways to reduce diagnostic inequities and disparities based on race and ethnicity.
The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine will produce and host a workshop engaging experts from various fields to help inform on quality and safety in diagnosis. They will provide a plan, agenda, presentation materials and final proceedings from the workshop to the agency. As the emerging issue of diagnostic inequities requires existing relationships with subject matter experts, and the National Academy is the only organization with federal designation and access to the required experts, the agency determined it is in their best interest to support this group of stakeholders for this work over a 12 month period of performance. Any questions regarding this sole source action should be directed to the named contract specialist by the date specified in the notice.

The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine is the only organization that can do this work because they are a federally chartered non-profit corporation that provides independent evidence-based insight and guidance on behalf of progress in health, health care and biomedical science. On request of the United States Government, NASEM can investigate, examine, experiment, and report on any subject of science and art.
