About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is procuring wing assembly and similar replacement parts for aircraft under PSC Category 1560 (Airframe Structural Components). This pre-solicitation notice indicates that the Government requires source approval prior to contract award because the item is flight critical and adequate technical data has not been determined to support full and open competition. Prospective contractors must submit comprehensive source approval documentation as detailed in the applicable NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Source Approval Information Brochure, with the specific documentation requirements varying based on whether the contractor has previous production experience with the same or similar items. Only previously Government-approved sources have been solicited for this requirement. Offers that fail to provide all required source approval data or documentation of previous submission will not be considered for award. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on October 30, 2025, with a due date of December 14, 2025, providing interested parties with approximately six weeks to prepare and submit their proposals.

This procurement carries no set-aside designations and involves a requirement for 39 units with delivery FOB Origin. The notice does not identify any current contractors or incumbents, nor does it disclose a specific award value or budget range. The Government emphasizes that if source approval evaluation cannot be completed in time to meet fleet support requirements, award may proceed based on Navy operational needs. Interested contractors should note that if they have an existing source approval request currently under evaluation at NAVSUP WSS, they must submit a copy of the cover letter documenting that prior submission along with their offer. Additional guidance and commercial item identification resources are available through the NAVSUP WSS Business Opportunities portal referenced in the notice.
