About this opportunity
The Department of Defense, specifically the Product Manager Soldier Precision Targeting Devices (PdM SPTD), has issued a Special Notice announcing an industry conference focused on the Purpose-Built Attritable System (PBAS) initiative. This Special Notice, posted on December 4, 2025, invites U.S. and affiliated defense contractors to participate in a two-day Industry Days conference scheduled for January 20-21, 2026, at the Westin Alexandria Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia. The event will operate at the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) classification level and will run from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST each day. The conference is designed to bring together prime vendors and potential subcontractors to discuss market research and development opportunities related to attritable systems technology.
The primary objective of this Industry Days event is to conduct market research for the Purpose-Built Attritable System while identifying prime vendors capable of executing production of a Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Blue List-approved system within six months and demonstrating lethal munitions employment capability within four months of contract award. Interested companies must submit a questionnaire and email request to attend by December 19, 2025, with a maximum of three representatives per company permitted to participate. Eligible contractors must be U.S. Department of Defense-approved entities meeting specific security access requirements for CUI-level information. The conference will address the development of a modular, interoperable small Uncrewed Aircraft System (sUAS) solution for Brigade Combat Teams, featuring capabilities such as aided target recognition, autonomous operations, vision-based navigation, and electronic warfare threat mitigation, with integration into existing Army command and control infrastructure through a TAK-based plug-in application for NetTWarrior devices.
