About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System is seeking to award a sole source contract to Olympus America Inc. for the rental and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of flexible endoscopes, including gastrointestinal, bronchoscope, and ear-nose-throat equipment. The VA intends to procure these services under FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) authority, citing that only one source is available to meet the government's specific requirements due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and existing infrastructure compatibility. The agency has determined that remaining with Olympus will eliminate additional equipment needs, reduce training requirements, and allow continued use of existing reprocessing equipment without purchasing new cleaning equipment or attachments. While no formal solicitation package will be issued, prospective contractors who believe they can provide equivalent services must submit detailed technical documentation to support their capabilities. All documentation must be submitted via email by 12:00 PM Pacific Standard Time on September 24, 2025, and the government will review any submissions received before making a final determination on whether to compete the contract.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is classified under NAICS code 532490 for commercial and industrial machinery rental and leasing. Olympus America Inc., located at 3500 Corporate Parkway in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, is identified as both the current provider and intended sole source contractor for these services at the VA facility located at 6900 N Pecos Road in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The proposed contract structure includes a one-year base period followed by two additional one-year ordering periods, providing a potential total contract duration of three years. The VA emphasizes that Olympus is the only authorized source capable of performing repairs and maintenance on this proprietary equipment, with no other companies identified as having authorized third-party service providers. The government will not be responsible for any costs incurred by potential contractors in preparing responses to this notice, and this announcement represents the only notice that will be issued for these services.
