About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically Veterans Integrated Service Network 12, has issued a Special Notice concerning a potential limited source contract with Olympus America for endoscope leases at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The notice, identified by the ID 36C25225Q0086, is not a formal request for proposal or quote, but rather an intent to negotiate a sole source contract. Olympus America has indicated they have no authorized distributors for equipment leasing, and the medical center has standardized on their brand of medical equipment. The contract will specifically cover endoscope leases and associated maintenance services. The notice falls under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 334510 for Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing.
Contractors interested in responding to this Special Notice must submit their information to Ryan Nugent via email by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on November 18, 2024, with the subject line referencing the notice of intent. The VA emphasizes that the government will not be responsible for any costs incurred by respondents in developing their responses. The information received will be used solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement, with the ultimate decision of whether to compete the acquisition remaining entirely within the government's discretion. This limited source procurement is unique in that it is based on Olympus America's exclusive position as the equipment provider and the medical center's existing standardization on their equipment. The notice serves as a transparent communication of the VA's intent to negotiate directly with Olympus America for these specific endoscope leasing and maintenance services, providing potential contractors with insight into the upcoming procurement process.
