About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 37 units of a specific pressure equalization valve (NSN 7R-4820-014552589-QE) with critical engineering requirements. This pre-solicitation notice indicates that the valve is flight-critical and requires specialized source approval by the design control activity. Potential contractors must submit comprehensive technical data demonstrating their engineering capabilities, manufacturing knowledge, and ability to meet strict qualification procedures. The solicitation allows interested parties to identify their capabilities within 45 days of publication, with the government reserving the right to negotiate with a single source under FAR 6.302-1. Evaluation will focus on meeting specific qualification requirements, including submission of detailed information from the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures.
The opportunity is not set aside for any specific business category and does not specify a precise award value. The procurement requires potential vendors to demonstrate unique design capabilities and technical expertise specific to this valve's production. Contractors must prove they can maintain the part's quality and have access to essential manufacturing or repair knowledge not readily available to the government. The quantity is fixed at 37 units, with delivery specified as FOB Origin. The government has indicated that if source approval evaluation cannot be completed in time, they may still proceed with award based on fleet support needs. Proposals must include comprehensive technical documentation, and companies without previous approval must submit detailed qualification materials to be considered for the contract.
